Located in the north-east of Cambodia, the hilly province of Mondulkiri is nestled against the border with Vietnam northeast of Phnom Penh and is home to several hill tribes like the neighboring Rattanakiri province.

Itinerary in details:


Day 1: Phnom Penh - Kampong Cham - Sen Monorom - modulkiri

 

Early Departure from Phnom Penh to Kampong Cham. Cross the Japanese built bridge towards Mondolkiri Province (386 km around 7h00). The route to Mondolkiri follows the Sam Leng Logging road and gradually rise from Tonle Sap basin into the hill country. Stop to visit of Chhup, a rubber plantation in the region established by the French tyre maker Michelin, on the way. Lunch at local restaurant in Snoul. Arrive in Mondulkiri, an isolated forested province south of Ratanakiri, nestled against Cambodia’s eastern border with Vietnam. Dinner at local restaurant.

 

Accommodation at a guesthouse.

 

Day 2: Modulkiri - Sen Monorom

Breakfast at Hotel. Travel 7 Km north of Sen Monorom to visit the village of Phulung, where elephant treks are organized.


Full exploration of the forest by elephant. Lunch on site. Return to Sen Monorom for dinner at local restaurant.
Accommodation at a guesthouse.

 

Day 3: Sen Monorom - Bu Sra

Breakfast at Hotel. Departure for 37 Km on the bumpy road along two rivers to Bu Sra. Pass through several ethnic Phnong village on the way to Bu Sra. The road to Bu Sra leads past Bu Sra Water fall, one of the largest in Cambodia. Explore the countryside surrounding Bu Sra. Enjoy the beautiful scenery with its rice fields. Visit traditional Phnong villages, a coffee and paper plantation. Lunch and dinner at Busra Guesthouse. Overnight at Busra Guesthouse.

 

Day 4: Bu Sra - Sen Monorom - Prey Veng - Phnom Penh

Breakfast at Hotel. Full day drive from Bu Sra to Phnom Penh via Sen Monorom (357 km around 7 hours). Lunch in a local restaurant on the way. Cross the Mekong River by ferry near Prey Veang and drive to Phnom Penh. Arrive in Phnom Penh and direct transfer to your hotel.

 

Dinner and accommodation at hotel.

Note: The program could be slightly modified if necessary (broken bridge or flood for example). Anyhow a replacement activity would be found so that the quality and the interest of the journey are not altered.
